MIP Media Impact Measurement System

The MIP Media Impact Measurement System (MIMS) integrates everything from web traffic and Facebook likes to offline actions and survey research to see how media can engage audiences and determine what works and what doesn’t. The first phase of MIMS is now complete. We have built a Data Repository that gathers, processes and joins together many different and disconnected types of media metrics data to enable assessments of impact and deep analysis not available through standard reporting tools, and which will eventually allow us to analyze data across many different types of media organizations.
The Norman Lear Center's Media Impact Project researches how entertainment and news influence our thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, knowledge and actions. We work with researchers, film and TV pros, nonprofits, and news organizations, and share our research with all.  We are part of USC's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
